Targeted by Mumbai Police for supporting Raj Kundra: Gehana Vasisth to Mumbai Court

Actress Gehana Vasisth, accused in the porn film racket case, has told a Mumbai court that Mumbai Police registered a fresh case against her in the porn film racket case because she supported co-accused Raj Kundra and also exposed the Mumbai police who demanded money from her in return for not arresting her. .The argument was made by Vasisth during the hearing of the anticipatory bail application filed by her. ."Vasisth had exposed Mumbai Police when about ₹15 lakh demand was made by Mumbai Police to avoid arrest and she had supported Raj Kundra which is why this case is filed," Vasisth's lawyer advocate Sunil Kumar argued..Kumar contended that the complaint lodged was based on the premise that the complainant was a victim however, he stated that the complainant had never been forced by Vasisth to act in films..He questioned the complainant’s integrity stating that she was a professional porn actor who had done over a 100 porn films.“Why did the police not file a single case against the other porn film makers? This is a gross abuse of process of law. They are targeting Vasisth for being a public celebrity,” Kumar submitted..He added that the complainant had filed the complaint after a year while having a valid agreement with the Kundra’s company.“She is a matured professional actor residing in Mumbai; not some woman from the village. She gave her consent for carrying out the ‘alleged obscene’ scenes. She was told that this is for the Hotshot application belonging to Kundra.”.He also argued that while shooting on the set with multiple crew members, if the complainant was threatened, she could have sought help and called police from her phone.He added that after the said film, the complainant acted in other films as well. “Before release of a film on OTT, the film is dubbed. So the complainant was also aware of the final product which was to be seen in public,” Kumar argued..In conclusion, Kumar argued that Vasisth had already undergone 4 months of judicial custody during which the police could have investigated against her or interrogated her.He added that being a permanent citizen of Mumbai, Vasisth will co-operate with the investigation and comply with the conditions imposed on her..The Crime Branch of Mumbai Police had booked Vasisth on July 27 under Sections 354C (outraging modesty of woman), 292, 293 (sale of obscene material) under the Indian Penal Code, Sections 66E, 67, 67A (transmission of sexually explicit material) under the Information Technology Act and provisions of the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act.The case was filed after they received a complaint stating that Vasisth who was director of porn films, threatened, coerced and lured women with money to act in “obscene film videos”..Vasisth approached the Sessions Court seeking pre-arrest bail and protection from arrest during the pendency of the application.
