Pune Porsche accident: Father of teen who killed two sent to police custody till May 24

The father of the 17-year-old boy who killed two people while driving a Porsche car at a high speed, was remanded to police custody till May 24 by a Pune court..According to ANI, the police sought 7-day custody of the father of the teenager. However, the Court on Wednesday granted only 2-day custody to police.He was arrested on Tuesday when he was trying to evade the cops. The father of the boy has been charged for offences under Section 75 (wilful neglect of a child, or exposing a child to mental or physical illnesses) and Section 77 (supplying a child with intoxicating liquor or drugs) of the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015..On Tuesday, the Court had sent Cosie hotel's owner Naman Bhutada, bar counter manager Sachin Katkar and Blak club manager Sachin Sangle to police custody till May 24, for serving alcohol to the juvenile before the accident..On May 19, the 17-year-old had hit a motorcycle with his Porsche car in the Kalyani Nagar area, claiming the lives of two persons. It was later found that he had been drinking at a pub with his friends before the accident.The minor was booked for rash and negligent driving, causing harm by endangering safety of lives, death by negligence under Sections 304A, 279, 337 and 338 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) as well as provisions of the Maharashtra Motor Vehicles Act. He was also booked under Section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the IPC and is likely to be tried as a adult..A Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) in Pune on Sunday granted bail to the minor subject to the condition that he submits a 300-word essay on road accidents after studying all traffic rules and regulations at the Regional Transport Office (RTO). The Board also directed that the parents of the minor shall take care that he will not be involved in such offences in the future and would be kept away from bad company.
