Punjab and Haryana High Court designates Punjab AG Maninderjit Singh Bedi as Senior Advocate

Bedi was appointed as Advocate General in March 2025.

Punjab and Haryana High Court on Friday conferred senior designation on Punjab Advocate General Maninderjit Singh Bedi.

"In exercise of the powers conferred under Section 16(2) of the Advocates Act 1961, the High Court of Punjab and Haryana at Chandigarh has been pleased to designate Sh. Maninderjit Singh Bedi, Advocate (Enrolment No.P-834/2005) as Senior Advocate with effect from ,the date of notification. The aforesaid designation is subject to the condition that he would conduct 1 O 'Free Legal Aid' cases pro bono every year," the High Court Registrar General said in a notification.

The High Court had similarly conferred senior designation on Haryana's Advocate General (AG) Pravindra Singh Chauhan earlier this year. Last month, the High Court conferred senior designation on 76 advocates.

Bedi was appointed as Punjab Advocate General in March 2025. He was an Additional Advocate General from July 2023 till March 2025.

A third-generation lawyer, Bedi hails from Phul town in Punjab's Bhatinda. He completed LL.B. at Punjabi University Campus, Patiala, in 2005.
