Raj Kundra: Mumbai Police files 1,497-page chargesheet in porn film case

The crime branch of Mumbai Police has filed a 1497-page long chargesheet in the first information report (FIR) in the porn film racket case against four accused including businessman Raj Kundra who is husband of Bollywood actor Shilpa Shetty..Kundra is presently under judicial custody in connection to the same FIR.The supplementary chargesheet was filed by the crime branch before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate SB Bhajipale. The primary chargesheet in the case arraigned 9 accused which included actress and director Gehana Vashist. .Along with Kundra, the supplementary chargesheet has arraigned the following persons as accused.Ryan Thorpe, an employee in the IT department of Kundra's company, who is also in judicial custody with Kundra; Arvindkumar Srivastava, named as "absconding accused" in the chargesheet, had not been arrested so far as he was presently in Singapore. However there is sufficient evidence found against him, the chargesheet stated;Pardeep Bakshi, the London based brother-in-law of Kundra, who was also named as absconding accused in the chargesheet. .The accused have been chargesheeted under Sections 354C (Voyeurism), 292, 293 (sale of obscene material), 420 (cheating) and 201 (causing evidence to disappear) under the Indian Penal Code; Sections 67, 67A (transmission of sexually explicit material) under the Information Technology Act and Sections 3, 4, 6 and 7 of the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act..The chargesheet also contained a list of 58 witnesses including Bollywood actress and Kundra's spouse Shilpa Shetty and actress Sherlyn Chopra.In her statement recorded by the police, Shetty submitted that she was aware of the company - Viaan Industries Ltd. - which was set up by Kundra in 2015. She informed that while she had 24.5% share in the company, she was not in the know of what work the company did including the mobile applications like HotShot and Bolly Fame; as she herself was busy with her own work .Kundra was arrested by the Mumbai Police and produced before the Metropolitan Magistrate at Esplanade, who remanded him to police custody till July 23, 2021,which was extended till July 27.His bail application was rejected on July 28, 2021 by the Magistrate Court..His plea assailing his remand to custody and subsequent orders of the Metropolitan Magistrate in the porn film racket case was dismissed by the Bombay High Court on August 7, 2021. .Kundra has also approached the Mumbai Sessions Court seeking bail after the Magistrate Court rejected his bail plea.The Sessions Court issued notice and police also filed a reply opposing the bail application. The application is pending hearing.
