School Jobs scam: Supreme Court refuses to stay ED, CBI probe against Abhishek Banerjee but stays ₹25 lakh costs by Calcutta High Court

A vacation Bench of Justices JK Maheshwari and PS Narasimha observed that apart from the costs imposed, nothing was prima facie wrong with the order as the High Court could not interfere with the ED and CBI probes.

The Supreme Court on Friday stayed costs of ₹25 lakh imposed on All India Trinamool Congress (AITMC) national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee by Calcutta High Court but refused to stay the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe against him in connection with the school jobs for cash scam.
