Reservation on the basis of religion is not permissible, the State of Karnataka told the Supreme Court on Tuesday while defending its decision to scrap the 4 percent reservation for Muslims in the State under the Other Backward Classes (OBC) category ahead of the State's assembly elections [L Ghulam Rasool vs State of Karnataka].
