We are having Gandhi's statues everywhere, are we going by his principles?: Madras High Court

"Why do we give permission to erect statues? If you have respect in your heart, it is enough. If you go by principles, it is enough", the Court orally remarked.

The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court today expressed disapproval over the statue culture prevalent in the country, posing an open query over why statues of prominent leaders are erected when their principles are seldom followed.
