The Supreme Court on Friday sought the responses of Assam and Maharashtra governments on a plea filed by YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani to transfer the obscenity case registered against him in Guwahati to Mumbai..The FIR was lodged in relation to allegations of promoting obscenity on the show, India's Got Latent, where podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia is the key accused..The Bench of Justices Surya Kant and N Kotishwar Singh today noted that Chanchlani has already been granted anticipatory bail by the Gauhati High Court in the matter.Chanchlani's counsel said that the plea is for clubbing multiple FIRs."We are basically on which FIR should be considered," he said.The Court then proceeded to issue notice to the two States and tagged it with a similar plea filed by Ranveer Allahbadia, the prime accused in the matter."Issue notice and tag," the Court said..Senior Advocate Ajay Tewari and advocates Shubham Kulshreshtha, Apoorv Srivastava, Ashish Lalwani, Satya Rath, Amitabh Tewari and Manju Jetley appeared for Chanchlani..The controversial episode shot on November 14, 2024 at Khar Habitat but aired recently, saw consistent use of abusive language by the show’s panel, including Chanchlani, Ranveeer Allahbadia, comedian Samay Raina and others.The FIR against Chanchlani was lodged at the Cyber Police Station, Guwahati Crime Branch, Assam, following a complaint filed by an individual on February 10.
