Breaking: [Sushant Singh Rajput] Supreme Court dismisses Priyanka Singh appeal against Bombay High Court order keeping FIR alive

The Supreme Court on Friday dismissed the appeal filed by the sister of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput, Priyanka Singh challenging the Bombay High Court order which had refused to quash the FIR against her for abetment of suicide and cheating [Priyanka Singh v. State of Maharashtra]. .The matter was heard by a Bench of Chief Justice of India SA Bobde and Justices AS Bopanna and V Ramasubramanian. Singh had filed an appeal challenging the Bombay High Court order which had kept alive the FIR filed against her in the case by Rhea Chakraborty while quashing the same against her sister Meetu Singh. ."The special leave petition is dismissed. As a sequel to the above, pending interlocutory applications, if any, stand disposed of," the Court ordered. .In her complaint on the basis of which the FIR was filed, actress Rhea Chakraborty had alleged that the sisters of Rajput conspired with Dr. Tarun Kumar to obtain a false prescription for administering banned medicines to the late actor..[Breaking] Sushant Singh Rajput case: Bombay High Court quashes complaint against Meetu Singh, Priyanka Singh to be probed.Senior Advocate Vikas Singh representing Priyanka Singh, said that no illegal medicines were prescribed by the doctor to Sushant Singh Rajput..Singh contended that the High Court failed to observe that registration of FIR was in the teeth of the order passed by the Supreme Court in the matter of Rhea Chakraborty v. State of Bihar, wherein the top court had directed that a case can only be registered arising out of the inquest proceedings of Sushant Singh Rajput..It was submitted that the entire case of Rhea Chakraborty against Priyanka Singh was "based on media reports" and thus devoid of credibility..It was stated that Dr Tarun Kumar had the requisite qualification and authority to prescribe the alleged drugs. "It is pertinent to mention that the prescription was provided in accordance with the MCI Regulations and Telemedicine Practice Guidelines and Telepsychiatry Operational Guidelines, where it is permitted to medical practitioner to prescribe medicine through teleconsultation and also through caregiver," the appeal said..The sisters had initially approached the Bombay High Court alleging that the FIR was lodged to “concoct a whole new story entirely different from the statements made” by Chakraborty before the Supreme Court and media platforms..They had also sought investigation into the Mumbai Police and Maharashtra government alleging malafides besides seeking damages under public law..They had contended that Chakraborty’s FIR brought forth a different chain of events than what was being claimed by Rajput’s family and those circumstances should be examined as it could give answers to the cause of the actor's death..The Bombay High Court had held that there is prima facie case against Priyanka Singh and there should not be any impediment on the investigation against her. It had, however, quashed the complaint against Meetu Singh.
