The Punjab and Haryana High Court adjourned to Tuesday the petition against Haryana government alleging that 12 Punjab Police personnel, who were involved in the arrest of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Tajinder Bagga, had been detained by Haryana Police in Kurukshetra [State of Punjab v State of Haryana]..Justice Gurvinder Singh Gill took on record a request by Assistant Solicitor General (ASG) Satya Pal Jain seeking more time to file a reply, and listed the case for further hearing on Tuesday. .Yesterday, Justice Lalit Batra had issued notice to Haryana and Central governments in the plea..During the hearing yesterday, Advocate General (AG) for Punjab, Anmol Rattan Sidhu submitted that twelve Punjab Police officials had been illegally detained and needed to be released immediately.He further submitted that the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Kuljinder Singh had gone to Police Station Janakpuri in Delhi, to intimate the arrest of accused Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga, with a view to get the DDR lodged but to no avail. Instead, he was illegally detained by the Delhi Police officials, the AG submitted.In view of that, he also contended that the custody of Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga should be restored to the Punjab Police..Advocate General of Haryana BR Mahajan contended that the Punjab police team was intercepted after receipt of a message from Delhi Police in respect of kidnapped person (Bagga).Pertinently, the Haryana AG said that no Punjab police official had been detained by Haryana Police as alleged.
