Treating sexual orientation as offence interferes with right to privacy: Allahabad High Court orders reinstatement of LGBT Home Guard staff

Referring to the Navtej Johar judgment, the Court observed any display of affection amongst the members of the LGBT community towards their partners in public “cannot be bogged down by the majority perception".

The Allahabad High Court recently directed the Home Guard Quarters in Uttar Pradesh to reinstate a staff member belonging to the LGBT community whose appointment was cancelled due to a video which revealed his sexual orientation (Pramod Kumar Sharma v. State of UP).
