The Supreme Court on Monday refused to hear a plea seeking directions to the Central government to introduce an alcohol prevention policy at the national level. [Viniyog Parivar Trust v. UOI].A Bench of Chief Justice of India UU Lalit and Justices Hima Kohli and S Ravindra Bhat said,"There is a revenue aspect to it and if something is done in some cases, you will block their revenue. This revenue is used for social causes. This plea is like directing the government to have a policy, it is not our domain.".During the hearing, the petitioner's advocate contended that the issue pertained to the Concurrent List under the Constitution of India, despite which the Centre has completely washed its hands of the issue"These kind of matters you entertain but it goes another way. You can do what you want. We will not touch this matter," the Court clarified while dismissing the plea..More details to follow.
