LOC against rapper Badshah over obscene song has been withdrawn: Haryana Police to P&H High Court

The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Thursday closed a petition moved by Punjabi rapper Aditya Prateek Singh Sisodia, popularly known as Badshah, challenging the directions issued against him by the Haryana State Commission for Women over alleged vulgar lyrics of his recent Haryanvi song 'Tateeree'.

Justice Jagmohan Bansal disposed of the petition after the Haryana Police submitted that no action would be taken against Badshah on the basis of the Commission order as he has already joined the investigation.

The Commission had earlier directed the  Superintendent of Police of Panipat to register a first information report (FIR) against Badshah and arrest him in connection with summons issued on March 13.

The Court was informed that an FIR has been registered against Badshah at Station Cyber Crime in Panchkula for offences punishable under Sections 3 and 4 of Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act 1986 and Section 296 (obscene acts and songs) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

It was also submitted that the Look Out Circular (LOC) issued against him stands withdrawn. The counsel representing Badshah then chose not to press the petition. Accordingly, it was disposed off.

Following a controversy over the song, Badshah had issued a clarification that he never intended to talk badly about any child or woman.

Senior Advocate Pradeep Virk with advocates Akshay Kumar Dahiya and Kamal Jindal appeared for Badshah.

Additional Advocate General Ravish Kaushik represented the State of Haryana.
