Speaking to Bar & Bench on the promotion, Senior Partner Mohit Saraf said, “On the Customs Excise Service Tax, the firm is really expanding and right now this area is being serviced by Sanjeev Sachdeva, one Partner, and J.P. Singh has been a Managing Associate for a few years and it was just appropriate to move him to the next level making him a Partner”.

Speaking with Indirect Tax Partner J.P. Singh, said, “I joined Luthra 2 years ago in November 2008, after putting in 23 years of service with the government. I’m really honored to have received this early promotion and made a Partner. This is a great place to work, with an excellent team. There is a personal relationship between all the Partners along with a personal touch, with which Mr. Luthra handles the firm. It’s been a great experience working here, these past two years”.

Partner J.P. Singh specializes in the Indirect Tax practice. Singh has 23 years of relevant experience in administration and enforcement of indirect taxes, and in fiscal and environmental policy. He has also served in the Indian Revenue Service (Customs & Central Excise) for more than 21 years.

This month Luthra & Luthra has been on a promotion spree, with the promotions of Deepak Joyce and Piyush Mishra to partnership early December along with nine associate level promotions.

This takes Luthra’s Partner tally to a total of 34 Partners.
