Madhya Pradesh High Court Bar Association resolves to boycott court of Justice Rajeev Kumar Dubey

Following a general meeting held on Monday afternoon, the Madhya Pradesh High Court Bar Association has called for an indefinite boycott of the Court of Justice Rajeev Kumar Dubey with immediate effect.."It is requested that all the advocates should respect the decision taken by the association and not to appear either physically or virtually in the Court No. 17 of Hon’ble Justice Mr. Rajiv Kumar Dubey", reads a note issued by the Secretary of the Madhya Pradesh High Court Bar Association, Manish Tiwari..The unanimous resolution to boycott Justice Dubey's Court from today was passed in the presence of other lawyers, the office-bearers of three Bar Associations and members of the Madhya Pradesh State Bar Council, reads the communiqué issued on Monday. .On a related note, a representation was made last week to the Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court at Jabalpur by lawyers expressing discontentment with the functioning of Justice Rajeev Kumar Dubey..Madhya Pradesh High Court Bar Association urges Chief Justice to address complaint alleging disrespectful conduct of Justice Rajeev Dubey .The letter, signed by the Bar Association's President Raman Patel and Secretary Manish Tiwari, alleged that the judge made derogatory remarks against members of the Bar and was not inclined to grant relief in matters..The letter added that though the fraternity did not expect relief in cases in where it is not legally justified, Justice Dubey only granted relief in 5-10 percent of cases before him. This, the lawyers said, had a tendency to create discontentment among the fraternity.It was further highlighted that the Bar had previously attempted several oral communications with Justice Dubey by meeting him personally and sharing the difficulties faced by the lawyers. Despite this, the letter stated, that there was no improvement in the working pattern of the judge.The letter requested Chief Justice Mohammad Rafiq to take cognizance of the issue at hand and to take appropriate steps to resolve the same.The letter had ended with a thinly veiled warning that if such measures are not taken, the members of the Bar Association "would be left with no other option than to revolt.".The development was confirmed to Bar and Bench by Manish Tiwari
