The award is for the cause of environmental protection – MC Mehta on the Padma Shri

Noted environmental lawyer MC Mehta is one of the eighty-three recipients of the Padma Shri this year. MC Mehta, whose petitions have played a crucial role in creating environmental jurisprudence, told Bar & Bench that the Padma Shri was a recognition of the importance of environmental conservation.
