Mergermarket H1 2016: Cyril Amarchand top in deal value; AZB with most deals

Mergermarket’s M&A league tables for the first half of 2016 have been released. As was the case in the first quarter of this year, Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas has topped the tables in terms of deal value. AZB & Partners overtakes Khaitan & Co to top the deal count table.

Cyril Amarchand’s 17 deals at $6.2 billion is followed by AZB & Partners, which has jumped up one spot from last quarter, with 25 deals valued at $4.4 billion. Vaish Associates is in third, unchanged from the first quarter of 2016, with 2 deals at $2.4 billion.

Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas and Khaitan & Co follow with 16 deals at $1.9 billion and 24 deals at $1.8 billion respectively.

The other Indian law firms are J. Sagar Associates in eleventh, with 11 deals at $1.2 billion, IndusLaw in twelfth, with 4 deals at $1.1 billion, Trilegal in fourteenth with 12 deals at $1.02 billion and Platinum Partners at fifteenth, with 4 deals at $1.01 billion.

By Deal Count

AZB & Partners tops the deal count table with 25 deals, closely followed by Khaitan & Co. with 24. They are followed by the two Amarchand firms; Cyril Amarchand has 17 deals, one more than Shardul Amarchand.

Trilegal and Veritas Legal both have 12 deals, whereas JSA has 11. The other Indian firms include Bathiya Legal (9), BMR Legal and PDS Legal (both 5), and IndusLaw and Platinum Partners (both 4).
