National Company Law Appellate Tribunal to function from MTNL building, CGO Complex from Jan 16

The National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) will function from the MTNL building in CGO Complex from January 16, 2020.

An Office Order informing about the new location of the Appellte Trbunal was issued by its Registry today.

It reads as follows,

"The National Company Law Appellate Tribunal shall be functioning in the new premises in the 2rd & 3rd Floor of Mahanagar Doorsanchar Sadan (MTNL Building), 9, CGO Complex, Lodhi Road, New Delhi w.e.f 16th January, 2020."

The Ofifce Order further informs that due to the shifting, no case will be taken up on 14th January, 2020 and no filing of any document/fees etc shall be accepted on the said date.

At present, NCLAT is located at the third floor of Pt. Deen Dayal Antyodaya Bhawan, CGO Complex.

The process to relocate the NCLAT was kick-started after the NCLT Bar Association and NCLAT Bar Association moved the Delhi High Court to highlight the day-to-day struggle faced by litigants and advocates while visiting the Appellate Tribunal.

The High Court had then set up a committee headed by the Registrar General of the High Court and comprising Registrars of NCLT and NCLAT, four representatives from the NCLT Bar Association and NCLAT Bar Association, one nominee each from the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Urban Development and CISF to address the problems of restricted entry and limited space.
