The Supreme Court Lawyers Welfare Trust (SCLWT) has awarded the Justice JS Verma Fellowship to three lawyers - Ninni Susan Thomas, Kumar Abhishek and Sreekar Aechuri..The decision was announced at the India International Centre in New Delhi on February 10, in the presence of Supreme Court Justice KV Vishwanathan, along with special invitee Sanaya Nariman, daughter of the late Fali S Nariman.Also present were SCLWT Chairman Justice (Retd.) Aftab Alam and Senior Advocates Chander Uday Singh, Gopal Sankaranarayanan and Ragenth Basant, who are trustees..The selected fellows are entitled to a monthly stipend. They will also be provided subscriptions to Bar & Bench, SCCOnline and LiveLaw.For the 2025 edition, the Trust received over 200 applications. Ultimately, 21 deserving candidates were interviewed by panels, each chaired by the Chairman, Justice Alam..The SCLWT was established in 2008 with a substantial corpus from practicing Senior Advocates of the Supreme Court with the aim of supporting and promoting professional opportunities and welfare programs for lawyers at the apex court.
