The meeting of the Supreme Court Collegium held on Wednesday did not make any headway with the judges body deciding to defer all decisions until the next Chief Justice of India (CJI) assumes office..According to a highly placed source, no decision was taken at today's meeting regarding future appointments and the meeting stood deferred. "The next set of recommendations will be when the next Collegium regime takes over," he added. The Collegium had met yesterday too but could not arrive at any consensus..The current CJI NV Ramana is set to demit office on August 26 and Justice UU Lalit will then take over as CJI. He will then head the Collegium for a little over two months before he retires on November 8. Justice DY Chandrachud will then take over as CJI. The Collegium composition will also see substantial changes during the said period with Justices Indira Banerjee, KM Joseph, and MR Shah becoming part of the body within a span of less than two months.
