Haryana police told a Nuh court on September 15 that Congress MLA Mamman Khan, who was recently arrested in a case related to recent communal violence in the district, is “wanted” in three other cases of similar nature..The submission was made while seeking transfer of proceedings in the four FIRs against Khan from Ferozepur Jhirka Court to Nuh Court. The police said Khan is the Member of Legislative Assembly from Ferozepur Jhirka and therefore proceedings of the case may be transferred to the Nuh court. Nuh Sessions Judge Sushil Kumar acceded to the request made by prosecution and said all the proceedings in the four FIRs registered at Nagina Police Station will be dealt with by the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Nuh and in his absence by the Duty Magistrate, Nuh..The Punjab and Haryana High Court had on September 14, issued notice to the Haryana government on Khan's petition seeking constitution of a high-level Special Investigation (SIT) to probe the cases related to recent communal violence in Nuh district.Interestingly, it was during the hearing of Khan's plea that he came to know that he has also been made an accused in one of the violence-related cases. He was arrested the same day and is currently under police custody..After his arrest, the police had described Khan as the “main conspirator” of the riots and sought his custody to look into his phone and social media accounts for any evidence related to his alleged meeting with co-accused arrested in the cases. However, Khan has said that he was being falsely involved in the cases and was not present at any of the places where riots took place. While opposing his police remand on Thursday, he also told the Chief Judicial Magistrate Nuh that he has already handed over his iPhone to the police.Khan is likely to be produced before the court on September 17 on expiry of his two-day police remand.
