Omnibus law prescribing mandatory mediation could lead to reduction in pendency of cases in courts: CJI NV Ramana

The CJI observed that mandatory mediation could act as an effective option for the vast majority of litigants who are from the middle and poorer sections of the society.

Prescribing mediation as a mandatory first step for resolution of disputes will go a long way in reducing pendency of cases before courts in the country, Chief Justice of India (CJI) NV Ramana said on Saturday.
