A&O Shearman capital markets partner Pallavi Gopinath Aney has been appointed to the global board of the international law firm.
Aney, who is based in Singapore, is co-head of the firm’s India Group and is one of 11 members on the global board of A&O Shearman. The appointment comes as the firm completed its board reshuffle, with Aney and Austin office managing partner Emily Westridge Black filling the remaining positions on the board.
Aney focuses on debt and equity capital markets transactions in India and across the Asia-Pacific region.
She has over 22 years of experience advising issuers, underwriters and sponsors on Rule 144A and Regulation S international debt offerings, initial public offerings, private placements and equity-linked offerings of exchangeable and convertible bonds.
She also advises on bond restructurings, consent solicitations, exchange offers, induced conversions and tender offers.
Aney is qualified as a solicitor in India, England and Wales, and Singapore.
She had joined the erstwhile Allen & Overy in Singapore in 2019 from Baker McKenzie as a capital markets partner. Prior to joining Baker, she worked at Linklaters.
She had previously worked at Pathak and Associates and S&R Associates in India before moving to Linklaters in Singapore.
In 2021, Allen & Overy appointed Aney and Sheila Ahuja as joint chairs of its India Group.
A&O Shearman was formed through the merger of Allen & Overy and Shearman & Sterling. The merger was approved by the partnerships of both firms in 2023 with over 99 percent support from each partnership.
