Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi on Friday lamented that some people stall the development of nation in the name of freedom of expression without understanding the aspirations of the nation..The Prime Minister was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the Constitution Day celebrations hosted by the Supreme Court at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi. The event was also attended by Chief Justice of India NV Ramana and Attorney General for India KK Venugopal..Speaking in the context of the stalling of developmental projects in the name of environmental protection, PM Modi said,"Environmental concerns are now being raised to stop the development of a nation. In India, we see God even in plants and trees and also see motherland as a God. This country is being given lectures on environmental protection... ...Sadly, we also have such people in our country who stall the development of nation in the name of freedom of expression without understanding the aspirations of the nation," he said..In this regard, he recounted how Sardar Vallabhai Patel had dreamt of a dam on the Narmada river and Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru had laid its foundation stone."But it was caught in the web of environmental pollution concerns," the PM said.He added said that the colonial mindset of the people is holding the country back and the same has to be destroyed."It is this colonial mindset which is responsible to strangulate the dreams and aspirations of our young India. We have to destroy this colonial mindset and for this we have to rely on Indian constitution," he opined..He also said that the judiciary and the executive are like twins since they were established by the same Constitution. Even though they may look different, they derive powers from the same source, he added."Judiciary and executive were birthed from the Constitution.
