The Punjab and Haryana High Court today asked the Haryana government to respond to a Public Interest Litigations (PIL) highlighting bad roads, encroachments and traffic issues in Gurugram's South City-1..The Division Bench of Chief Justice Sheel Nagu and Justice Sanjiv Berry issued notice to Haryana government, Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikaran HSVP, Municipal Corporation Gurugram and other authorities on the plea..The PIL has been filed by Brigadier Paramjit Singh and other residents of the area.Advocate Varun Dhanda, representing the petitioners, submitted that the residents of South City 1 are facing multiple isses. He said they have approached the Court for implementation of a Detailed Project Report (DPR) prepared by the authorities."None of the works have been taken forward. Roads are in a bad shape, there are illegal encroachments and people are facing traffic issues on daily basis," Dhanda said. .In response, Additional Advocate General Ankur Mittal submitted that a detailed estimation for over ₹7.65 crore-works was prepared. "Tender was floated. For 52 works, the work order has been issued. Acceptance letter is issued on May 02 but owing to the ongoing monsoon, the execution of actual work is yet to commence," he added. Chief Justice Nagu then remarked that the petitioners can wait for sometime and later approach Court again in case of any grievance. However, the petitioners' counsel argued that the works haven't been completed for decades in Gurgaon."Central Avenue Road hasn't been completed for 15 years. I have annexed photographs as well," Dhanda said.The government counsel said the road is not yet part of the new works. "The 52 works does not cover all the grievances of petitioners. We are working, sensitive to situation.
