The petitioners have also submitted that the apex court had previously found IPL team owners guilty of betting in matches and suspended two IPL teams for spot fixing..Reference has also been made to a report of the court-appointed SIT, which had estimated the Indian cricket betting market in India to be worth more than Rs. 3 lakh crore per year..The petition further submits that the cricket betting market in India indirectly supports terror funding since many illegal gambling industries are being controlled by Dawood Ibrahim..The petitioners have alleged that cricket legends, cricket experts and other industries and people associated with the game of cricket are selling the game of cricket..On these grounds the petitioners have sought the indulgence of the Court to appoint an SIT to investigate the massive ongoing public fraud in the name of cricket.
