Pravin Anand, Managing Partner of IP firm Anand and Anand, and Vaibhav Gaggar, Managing Partner of Gaggar & Associates, have formed a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) called ‘Anand Anand and Gaggar’, according to sources.

The SPV will focus exclusively on the interface between IP, Technology and Competition law.

Being leading firms in their respective domains of IP/Tech and Competition laws, this new entity could be a real gamechanger in the domain – specially considering that a huge amount of issues are already arising and likely to increase manifold in the tech and IP space related to Competition laws and a deep understanding of the same would be critical to the interests of all affected parties .

We understand that all other areas of work falling outside the scope of SPV domain will be done by either firm independently.

We have reached out to both Pravin Anand and Vaibhav Gaggar for comment.

Gaggar & Associates focuses on Anti-Trust/Competition, Real Estate, White Collar Crime, Gaming & Technology, and Environmental Laws.

Gaggar has represented the Competition Commission of India (CCI) as well as various prominent corporate and individual clients in watershed cases such as the DLF case (Rs. 630 crore penalty), Cement Cartelisation (Rs. 6700 Crore penalty), Monsanto (patent and Competition matter relating to GM Technology), and Ericsson (Standard Essential Patent/FRAND related Anti Trust issues qua mobile technology) etc.

Last year, Anand and Anand had merged its Mumbai practice with celebrity law firm Khimani & Associates to form ‘Anand and Anand & Khimani’. The new firm in Mumbai began operations from July 1, 2017, and has recently moved into a bigger office space at Nariman Point.
