Prof SN Singh asks President to remove J. Ganguly from WB Human Rights Commission; Seeks enquiry into allegations against other judges

Professor SN Singh, the former Dean of Faculty of Law at Delhi University, has sent a letter to President Pranab Mukherjee, seeking action against Justice AK Ganguly. The Professor, who is also the Patron of this site, has asked the President to remove Justice Ganguly from the post of Chairman of the West Bengal Human Rights Commission..He wrote,.“In view of the findings of Supreme Court Committee ( Copy enclosed), we request you to remove Mr A K Ganguly from the office of Chairman, West Bengal Human Rights Commission for his misbehaviour under the provisions of the Section 23(1A) of the Protection of Human Rights Act 1993.”.The Professor has also asked the President to initiate an enquiry into allegations of sexual harassment made against sitting judges of the Supreme Court. His letter states that,.We request you to order an independent enquiry into the allegations of other Law Interns and in case any sitting judge is involved in such misbehaviour, kindly initiate action for removal of guilty Judges as per Art. 124(4) of the Constitution of India..In a letter addressed to Chief Justice Sathasivam, the Professor has also asked that all statements and affidavits recorded before the 3-judge committee be forwarded to the Delhi Police. Earlier, Professor Singh had filed a complaint before the Tilak Marg Police Station seeking the registration of an FIR against Justice Ganguly..The Professor has also written to the Commissioner of Police, seeking the initiation of an investigation into the allegations. The letter, dated December 6, 2013 states,.Three Judges Supreme Court Committee has already recorded the statement of Law Intern which may be considered as per provisions of Sec. 164 of the Cr. PC. I request you to get all such statements and affidavits from Supreme Court and issue directions for registration of FIR and expeditious investigation so that evidences are not tempered. I further request you to conduct an enquiry for lapses in delay in filing of FIR inspite of my reminder in the matter
