The Punjab and Haryana High Court has asked media to refrain from publishing names of judges while reporting the proceedings, orders and judgments of the High Court..The appeal or request has been made particularly for "sensitive matters". Sources told the Bar & Bench that the High Court Registrar General made the request by way of a written communication to the reporters covering High Court proceedings."In the interest of security of Hon'ble Judges of this Court, the correspondents be asked not to publish the names of Hon'ble Judge(s) while reporting proceedings, judgments and orders of this Court," a copy of the communication said..Recently, the weapon of a High Court judge's personal security officer (PSO) was snatched by a person to shoot himself dead at Amritsar's Golden Temple in September. The High Court had taken judicial note of the incident and initiated a suo motu case. The Division Bench of Chief Justice Sheel Nagu and Justice Anil Kshetarpal later ordered enhanced security for the judge and removed Punjab Police from his security detail. However, it is not clear whether the communication to media has been issued in the backdrop of that incident.
