Members of the Rohini Court Bar Association have declared a one-day strike on March 25, citing police inaction in apprehending six assailants behind the brutal attack at the residence of Advocate Pawan Bhardwaj.
In the notice declaring the strike tomorrow, the Bar Association has requested the police officials to take immediate and proper action.
“RCBA strongly condemns this attack and requests the senior police officials to take immediate and proper action. Accordingly, it has been unanimously resolved that a STRIKE/ABSTINENCE FROM WORK is called for tomorrow, 25th March 2026 to show solidarity and brotherhood among the members of the fraternity,” the notice states.
On the evening of March 19, while Bhardwaj was in court, his family members were attacked by six men wielding guns. Honorary Secretary Pradeep Khatri claimed that around forty rounds of bullets were fired at the family members. Resultantly, Bhardwaj’s brother was shot dead. Meanwhile his father, son and a neighbour suffered bullet injuries.
The Bar Association members condemned the police's failure to arrest the accused persons till now. They state that despite the faces of the assailants being clearly visible in the CCTV camera footage, no arrest has taken place in six days.
Thereby, the bar body has called a symbolic strike tomorrow, requesting the advocates to show solidarity and support to Bhardwaj and his family.
The members have also requested judges of the district court to not pass adverse orders in cases tomorrow.
