A Mumbai court on Friday extended the police custody of Mohammed Shariful Islam, the accused in the attack on Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan, until January 29, Times of India reported..Islam has been in police custody since January 19 after being arrested for allegedly attacking Khan during a failed robbery attempt at his Bandra residence on January 16. The Bandra Court after noting that there has been substantial progress in the investigation, granted the extension of custody following the completion of his initial five-day remand.The Court also directed Mumbai police to explore other crucial aspects of the case.Mumbai Police requested the extension, citing the possibility of additional accomplices and the accused’s failure to cooperate in locating the weapon used in the stabbing. Islam, alleged to be a Bangladesh national, reportedly attempted to steal from Khan's residence, and during a confrontation, stabbed the actor multiple times, injuring his thoracic spine and other parts of his body. Khan underwent surgery at Lilavati Hospital and was discharged on January 21.
