Senior Advocate Jagdeep Dhankhar appointed Governor of West Bengal

Supreme Court Senior Advocate Jagdeep Dhankhar is among the six newly appointed governors to various states by the Central Government. Senior Advocate Dhankar has been appointed the Governor of West Bengal.

Jagdeep Dhankhar obtained his LL.B. from Jaipur. Over the course of his practice, he has served as the President of the Rajasthan High Court Bar Association, a member of the Rajasthan Bar Council and a member of the ICC International Court of Arbitration. 

Dhankhar is also a former Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) from Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan. Between 1989 and 1991, Dhankar served as a Minister in the Central Government. He has also served as a member of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly from the Kishangarh district.

Apart from West Bengal, the Government has also reportedly appointed new Governors to Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Nagaland and Tripura.

Former Chief Minister of Gujarat, Anandiben Patel has been appointed as the Governor of Uttar Pradesh. Bihar

Governor, Lalji Tandon has been transferred as the Governor of Madhya Pradesh. Ramesh Bais has been appointed the new Tripura Governor. Phagu Chauhan has been appointed as the Bihar while RN Ravi has been  appointed the Governor of Nagaland.
