Advocate Shanti Bhushan has been appointed Assistant Solicitor General (ASG) for the Karnataka High Court..The notification issued in this regard, states,“The President is pleased to engage Shri Shanthi Bhushan H, Advocate as Assistant Solicitor General of India for the High Court of Karnataka (PB) at Bengaluru, as mentioned below, for a period of three years with effect from from the date of this order or until further orders, whichever is earlier.”.Bhushan, a lawyer practicing before the Karnataka High Court as well as the Supreme Court, was born in the year 1977.He was named after legendary Supreme Court lawyer, Senior Advocate Shanti Bhushan.It was during the time of Emergency that Senior Advocate Shanthi Bhushan, based on whom the new ASG was named after, fought and won the case against the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, on behalf of Raj Narain and became a big name in the legal and political circles."KN Puttegowda, who was an advocate and later served as President of the Bangalore Advocates Association, suggested that I should be named after the legendary lawyer.
