The Punjab and Haryana High Court recently disposed of a student’s petition seeking a law degree from Panjab University, after he conceded that he approached the Court on the basis of a forged result notification.
The student had initially submitted that he completed his three-year LL.B degree from the university in May 2023 but his degree and marks certificates were not released.
However, on August 2, the Panjab University told Justice Harsimran Singh Sethi that the notification on the basis of which the student was claiming to have passed the LLB examination was a forged document with three signatures. It was also submitted that he had not even appeared for the examination to clear the same.
The counsel representing the student then submitted that he was misled by another student, who had been Vice President of Panjab University Campus Student Council in 2019. The student also said that he did not know the document given to him was fake.
Considering the submission, the Court disposed of the plea.
"Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner repent the filing of the present petition on the basis of the forged Notification dated 25.11.2024 (Annexure P-1) seeks forgiveness with the undertaking not to repeat the same mistake again and prays that the present petition may kindly be disposed of as having been not pressed any further," the Court ordered.
Advocate Brijesh represented the petitioner.
Advocate Akshay Kumar Geol appeared for Panjab University.
