[Sunday Hearing] Allahabad High Court takes suo motu cognizance of banners of anti-CAA-NRC riot accused

The Allahabad High Court will today hear a matter related to banners having photographs of anti-CAA protestors installed by the Police.

These banners display pictures of accused who allegedly caused damage to public property during the anti-CAA-NRC protests that took place on December 19, 2019.

The Bench of Chief Justice Govind Mathur and Justice Ramesh Sinha has taken suo motu cognizance of the matter.

The hearing will take commence at 10 AM at the Allahabad High Court.

Update: The matter will now be taken up at 3pm.

These banners display pictures of 29 accused and mention that they are "Joint and Severally" liable to pay Rs. 64,37,637/- to the government.

This morning, the Court pulled up the state authorities for putting up the hoardings. Additional Advocate General Neeraj Tripathi appeared for the State.

The matter will now be taken up at 3pm. Advocate General Raghvendra Singh is expected to appear for the state.
