Supreme Court Bar Association donates Rs 30 lakh towards relief for Kerala Floods victims

The Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) has donated a sum of Rs. 30 lakh towards relief for victims of the Kerala floods that have ravaged the state.

In a circular issued today, the SCBA informed its members that the lives of hundreds of people are in danger as a result of the Kerala floods, and that thousands have been rendered shelterless. In this light, it was decided,

“The SCBA, as always, must come forward not only to express its solidarity with the people of Kerala in times of this crisis but must also provide help to bring some relief in mitigating the miseries of millions.”

Apart from the Rs 30 lakh that has already been donated out of the Association’s corpus, the Executive Committee has called upon members of the SCBA to donate towards the SCBA Calamity Relief Fund.

At the time of publishing this story, the death toll resulting from the Kerala floods stood at around 80. The entire state has been placed on red alert, with defence forces conducting rescue operations.
