The Supreme Court on Thursday recommended the elevation of Patna High Court judge Justice Chakradhari Sharan Singh as Chief Justice of the Orissa High Court..As per an official resolution published on the apex court website, "...during his tenure of more than 11 years as a Judge of High Court, he authored 1246 reported judgments, of which 562 were delivered during last 5 years...the Collegium has also taken into consideration the fact that at present the High Court of Judicature at Patna has no representation among the Chief Justices of High Courts."The Collegium, accordingly, found Justice Singh fit and suitable for the appointment and resolved to recommend the same. .The post of Orissa High Court Chief Justice has been vacant since October 3 this year, after the retirement of Justice Subhasis Talapatra..Justice Singh enrolled as an Advocate in 1990 after obtaining an LL.B. degree from University of Delhi (Campus Law Centre). He was designated Senior Advocate in September 2010 and was appointed as Additional Advocate General for Bihar in December that year.
