Supreme Court Collegium recommends two for appointment as Rajasthan High Court judges

As on July 1, the Rajasthan High Court is functioning with 37 judges as against its sanctioned strength of 50, a vacancy position of 13.

The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the appointment advocate Anuroop Singhi and judicial officer Sangeeta Sharma as judges of the Rajasthan High Court.

The decision was taken on July 2 by the Collegium headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) BR Gavai and also consisting of Justices Surya Kant and Vikram Nath.

As on July 1, the Rajasthan High Court is functioning with 37 judges as against its sanctioned strength of 50, a vacancy position of 13.

Notably, Bar & Bench reported today that the Collegium has tightened the process for selection of judges and intensified scrutiny of candidates.

It was also revealed that the Collegium interacted with a total of 54 candidates in 2 days to fill High Court judge vacancies.
