Supreme Court declines to interfere with NIA probe in Beldanga violence case

The Court observed that the High Court had taken a “balanced view” in allowing the investigation to proceed while also examining whether the materials placed by the agency disclose a case.

The Supreme Court of India on Monday declined to entertain an appeal by the West Bengal government against an order of the Calcutta High Court which had refused to stay the probe by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) into the violence in Murshidabad district's Beldanga.
