Supreme Court designates 4 former High Court judges as Senior Advocates

The decision followed a Full Court Meeting chaired by CJI Surya Kant.

The Supreme Court of India has designated four former High Court judges, including two Chief Justices, as Senior Advocates.

The decision was taken during a Full Court Meeting of the Supreme Court held on December 10, 2025, chaired by Chief Justice of India (CJI) Surya Kant.

According to an official notification issued the same day, the following retired judges have been designated as Senior Advocates, effective immediately:

  • Justice Abhinand Kumar Shavili

    Former Judge, High Court for the State of Telangana

  • Justice Pavankumar B Bajenthri

    Former Chief Justice, High Court of Judicature at Patna

  • Justice Satyendra Singh Chauhan

    Former Judge, High Court of Judicature at Allahabad

  • Justice TS Sivagnanam

    Former Chief Justice, High Court at Calcutta
