Supreme Court expunges remarks by Gauhati High Court against Assam NIA judge in UAPA case

The judicial officer has since become a permanent judge of the Gauhati High Court. The order under challenge was delivered by a bench led by then Chief Justice Sandeep Mehta who has since become a Supreme Court judge.

The Supreme Court recently deleted certain adverse remarks made by the Gauhati High Court against a special National Investigation Agency (NIA) court judge in a judgment relating to Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA).
