Supreme Court grants protection to Congress leader Randeep Surjewala for five weeks in 23-year-old case

The allegation against Surjewala is that in August 2000, he and other Congress leaders were involved in a violent protest at the office of a Divisional Commissioner in Varanasi.

The Supreme Court on Thursday granted five weeks' protection to Congress national spokesperson Randeep Surjewala in relation to a non-bailable warrant issued against him in a case dating back to 2000.
