Supreme Court integrated into National Judicial Data Grid: CJI DY Chandrachud

Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud on Thursday announced that the Supreme Court of India is being integrated into the National Judicial Data Grid (NJDG) platform..The apex court was previously outside the purview of NJDG. The platform, developed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC) in collaboration with the Supreme Court's in-house team, will enable the tracking of case pendency in real-time."It is a historic day. It is a unique platform which is developed by the NIC and in-house team of Supreme Court. Now at the click of a button, you can see real-time info on pendency of cases, year wise, total pendency of registered and unregistered cases, number of cases decided coram wise," the CJI said..He said that the goal behind the integration is to enhance transparency and accountability within the judicial system. CJI Chandrachud shared some key statistics, revealing that there are currently 80,000 cases pending in the Supreme Court, with an additional 15,000 cases not yet registered, and thus not considered pending. He also highlighted that in July, over 5,000 cases were disposed..He further emphasized his commitment to addressing the backlog of cases, stating, "583 cases are pending before three-judge benches, and I will soon set up those benches to expedite their resolution.".Supreme Court of India went live on the National Judicial Data Grid this afternoon.
