"Scurrilous": Supreme Court junks plea by environmentalist to be appointed President of India

A bench of Justices DY Chandrachud and Hima Kohli took a strong view of the plea calling it scurrilous and an abuse of the process of the court and also directed the registry not to entertain such petitions in future.

The Supreme Court on Friday came down upon an environmentalist for filing a petition seeking his appointment as the President of India after removing current President Droupadi Murmu from the post. (Kishore Jagganath Sawant vs Union of India and ors)
