Supreme Court Justices AG Masih, Joymalya Bagchi to speak at 5th Justice HR Khanna Memorial Symposium

The Confederation of Alumni for National Law Universities (CAN Foundation) will host the fifth Justice HR Khanna Memorial National Symposium on August 1, 2026.

The event is being held in collaboration with the West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences (NUJS) in Kolkata and Damodaram Sanjivayya National Law University (DSNLU) in Visakhapatnam.

Held in memory of former Supreme Court judge Justice HR Khanna, the symposium will focus on the theme "Without Fear or Favour: Upholding Judicial Independence in a Digital and Globalised World."

The event aims to examine the evolution of judicial independence in India and the challenges posed by digitalisation and globalisation to the judiciary.

The discussions will cover issues such as social media trials, live streaming of court proceedings, judicial recruitment in the digital era, and the need for domestic and international regulatory frameworks to safeguard judicial independence.
