Transgender teacher moves Supreme Court alleging termination of services in UP, Gujarat

The transgender teacher said that she was not allowed to join teaching posts despite having an appointment letter. She claimed that she had faced such treatment in Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday issued notice to the Central government and the States of Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat on a petition by a transgender person who claimed that her services as a teacher in Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat were discontinued due to her gender identity.
