The Supreme Court recently dismissed pleas filed by a group of three children - through their guardians - who were aggrieved against their play school ‘The Learning Tree’ being sealed by the New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) on December 6, 2019 in the midst of their ongoing session.
The toddlers, who are between the age of 2 and 4 years, were seeking permission from the Supreme Court to allow them to complete their session, which was to come to an end before March 30.
The Learning Tree Play School, which is located in Sujan Singh Park, was sealed pursuant to the directions of the Monitoring Committee appointed by the Supreme Court in the matter of M.C. Mehta v. Union of India.
Subsequently, the play school being aggrieved by the sealing, filed two applications before the Apex Court, praying for de-sealing the play school.
The petition filed by the children as well as the applications filed by the play school were listed for hearing on Friday before a Bench of Justices Arun Mishra and Deepak Gupta.
