Supreme Court stays criminal case against SP Leader Swami Prasad Maurya over comments on Ramcharitmanas

Maurya, who is also a Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) in Uttar Pradesh, had allegedly said that certain verses of Ramcharitmanas were against women, Dalits and other backward classes.

The Supreme Court on Thursday stayed criminal proceedings against Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Swami Prasad Maurya in a case related to his comments on the Ramcharitmanas, a Hindu epic poem based on the Ramayana.
