Supreme Court stays NGT order directing Maharashtra to pay ₹12,000 crore for improper waste management

Appearing for the Maharashtra government, Senior Advocate Mukul Rohatgi contested the fine amount and informed the Court that a review was pending before the NGT.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday stayed an order of the National Green Tribunal (NGT) that directed the State of Maharashtra to pay ₹12,000 crore as environmental compensation for improper waste management.
