Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay's wife Sangeetha Vijay has withdrawn the divorce plea filed by her before a Chengalpattu court earlier this year.

The petition had been filed before the District Court at Chengalpattu under the Special Marriage Act, 1954, seeking divorce and maintenance alimony.

Sangeetha had alleged the actor-turned-politician was involved in extra-marital relationship with an actress.

However, she withdrew the petition on Friday.

The couple had registered their marriage in the United Kingdom on July 10, 1998 and later also solemnised it in Chennai on August 25, 1999, in accordance with Hindu rites.

Apart from dissolution of marriage, Sangeetha had sought the right to reside in the matrimonial home until final disposal of the case or provision of alternate accommodation and permanent alimony commensurate with Vijay’s income
